The transformation of a residential tennis court in Cottesloe into a stylish catwalk last week has raised $35,000 for the Nedlands-based Scott Kirkbride Melanoma Research Centre (SKMRC).

Last Friday's glamorous fundraiser called 'Lunch On The Court' attracted more than 400 western suburbs women - and a handful of brave men.

The main event saw some of Perth's top models showcase fashion from Claremont boutique Adam Heath and featured a performance by local dancers.

Other special guests included West Coast Eagle Drew Banfield and Venerable Ajahn Brahmavamso, the current abbot of Serpentine's Bodhinyana Buddhist Monastery, who gave an inspiring speech on 'Life Experiences'.

Money for the centre was raised through ticket sales, a helium balloon raffle and the auction of a stunning necklace and holiday package.

The Centre, based at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) was established in March 2005 in memory of Scott Kirkbride, a young Mt Claremont golfer who died from melanoma at the age of 27, who also worked at the Wembley Golf Complex.

WAIMR Director Professor Peter Klinken said the success of the event was a tribute to many, but was a direct result of the tireless efforts of Helen Burke and Tim & Carol Holmes and their network of family and friends.
