Win Your Way to the SKMRC's Charity Golf Day!
November 1st, 2006 - Media Statement
720 ABC Perth presenters Geoff Hutchison and Russell Woolf will go head to head on the golf course this November - all in the name of charity.
On November 21, the two passionate - but improving golfers will join fellow lovers of the game on the green for the Scott Kirkbride Melanoma Research Centre's annual Charity Golf Day at the Wembley Golf Complex.
720 Mornings presenter Hutchison, whose extraordinary golfing talent at the age of 12 drastically diminished at the age of 13, will head up one team of four that will do battle with Woolf's group in a bid to raise funds for vital melanoma research.
Joining the presenters will be members of the public who can win their spots by tuning in to 720 ABC Perth in the lead up to the event. Hutchison and Woolf will be heavily reliant on the winners - desperately needing all the golfing support they can get!
Money raised from the day will go towards helping the Scott Kirkbride Melanoma Research Centre, which is based within the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), continue its research into the genetic and environmental causes of melanoma, one of the most deadly and prevalent forms of skin cancer.
The Centre was established in March 2005 in memory of Scott Kirkbride, a young Mt Claremont golfer who died from melanoma at the age of 27, who also worked at the Wembley Golf Complex.
720 ABC Perth's Morning Program was the key instigator of last year's Golf Day, which raised more than $10,000 and saw more than 130 amateurs take to the course.
720 ABC Perth personality and qualified golf professional Andrew Wynne will feature on the green again this year and Russell Woolf will broadcast his popular Drive program live from the event.
The 2006 Charity Golf Day, which kicks off at midday and includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, a ticket to the event's dinner auction - and the opportunity to support skin cancer research - is open to the public.
BOOKINGS FOR THE CHARITY GOLF DAY CAN BE MADE BY PHONING THE SKMRC ON (08) 9224 0333.
